About Us

Empowering Vulnerable Children

Founded in 2013

Our Story

Loving Hearts Caring Hands is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Lindi Municipality, Southern Tanzania, along the Indian Ocean. The municipality, home to over 178,000 people, relies heavily on fishing, sesame cultivation, and cashew farming as its primary economic activities. Lindi, along with its neighboring region Mtwara, is among the five poorest regions in Tanzania, alongside Mara, Kagera, and Shinyanga. These regions face significant challenges, with many children lacking essential resources such as adequate nutrition, healthcare, and education, despite Tanzania’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Loving Hearts Caring Hands was founded in 2013 as a dream by Amos and Carina Makajula to take urgent action against child poverty and to secure a brighter future for the most vulnerable children (MVCs) in Lindi Municipality. This dream came to fruition in 2021 when they managed to build their own children’s center in Lindi. Amos, who is born in Lindi, Tanzania, and Carina in Sweden, believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Their goal through LHCH is to work to identify and support vulnerable children living in tough conditions. Through comprehensive support programs, LHCH addresses critical needs such as shelter, food, education, healthcare, and provides relief aid to communities affected by catastrophic events, ensuring they have the resources to recover and rebuild.
